[00:00:00] Speaker A: Thunder on the turf hear the crowd ignite Perk Bears charging in red and black tonight from the try line battles to the lead wide steps we break it down, we bring it home these are the bare facts Per fried Game on, let's attack this is the Bear Facts.
Hey, we are roaring with the bears and a real story shaking up the air Big hits, big hearts never looking back Turn it up, tune it in get the bare facts Perth pride game on, let's attack this is the Bear Facts
[00:00:42] Speaker B: Good evening, grizzlies, and welcome back to the Bare Facts, the only rugby league show where the confidence in our tips is sky high and the accuracy is, well, somewhere underground. Tonight's panel of prediction professionals includes Roggie, our resident Brisbane Broncos relationship correspondent. She may not know who's winning this weekend, but she can tell you exactly who's single and who is not. Reece Walsh. Watch out. Truly elite analysis there, Johnny. The undisputed king of Queensland rugby league knowledge. He can name every cane toad player, coach, trainer, and probably the bloke who mows the fields, yet somehow still manages to tip the wrong team every second week. A gift, really. Todd, our New South Wales rugby league specialist. He knows the blues inside out, upside down and sideways. But when it comes to tipping, he treats every round like a raffle ticket.
Inspirational stuff right there. Strap in. The insights will be questionable, the banter will be elite, and the tipping will be well consistent in its inconsistency.
Let's get into that.
Here's Rogie.
[00:01:42] Speaker C: Thank you, Paul. What an intro that was. I have to correct you. Not Reese Walsh, but Jordan Rickey. That's the one I got my eye on. Anyways, thank you so much for everyone tuning in tonight for the Bare Facts.
Please reminder to join our socials to keep up to date with any news we have about our podcast, about the NRL and about the Perth Bears. I'd like to introduce Johnny on. And let's start our hellos. Hey, Johnny. How are you today?
[00:02:10] Speaker D: Hey, Roshni. Very well, thank you. How are you doing?
[00:02:13] Speaker C: I'm good. A little tired, but it was a good round of rugby this week for sure.
[00:02:18] Speaker D: It certainly was. It certainly was.
[00:02:21] Speaker C: Yeah.
Let's get Todd on as well.
Hey, Todd.
[00:02:28] Speaker E: Hey, guys.
Good.
[00:02:31] Speaker C: Yeah, Good. Good week.
[00:02:34] Speaker E: Good week. Yeah, yeah. Very good tipping. Yeah. So.
[00:02:37] Speaker C: So, yeah, we'll get straight into the tipping. Let's get everybody up.
How did you guys go with your tipping for round three this week?
[00:02:48] Speaker D: I got five out of eight.
[00:02:53] Speaker C: Yeah, me too.
[00:02:55] Speaker E: Five as well. Three weeks in a row.
[00:02:58] Speaker C: Oh, no.
There you go look at it as a positive.
So what games were you excited to see this week for round three.
[00:03:14] Speaker D: Yep. So round three wrap up.
Look Toddy, you kick off what was the games, what were the game, what was the scores and were the games mate and then.
[00:03:25] Speaker E: Well it started off with Raiders and the Bulldogs and that was a good game. Bulldogs got up 1410.
Yeah, the Bulldogs. Apparently they wore to the shirt we over me.
Wore to the game we over me. So whether that was a little thing to Bronson's area I'm not really sure, you know but that was interesting.
I found I just like Stephen Crichton and Viliami kick out. They do sail very close to the wind and I thought they did again in this game. I thought I did against the Dragons in Vegas as well and yeah, they just managed to escape.
Yeah, any sort of sanctioning or penalties. So yeah, I don't know, I don't know what that is but you know the dry as like the Dragons in Vegas. Campbell are very ill disciplined but you know, I think when you get so many six agains against you, you know, how can you not get ill disciplined? You know, like it must be frustrating and it would virtually take a toll on you I think during the game.
[00:04:38] Speaker D: Yeah. So yeah, I agree it was a bit of a great game, wasn't.
[00:04:44] Speaker E: Was. Yeah. Interestingly, Cameron Serraldo was saying about Analy Tualas, apparently his GPS tracker at half time was just off the charts.
You know they reckon it, they reckon it virtually exploded. He, you know, and for the game he'd done 23 tackles which was like nine tackles more than the next backline player. So.
So Bronson, Zary, even Var went good in the reserve grade win over Canberra. He scored the first try of a game. I think he'll, you know, I've noticed he's been named at 19th man this week, I'm pretty sure.
[00:05:21] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:05:22] Speaker E: So I think he'll be on the. Yeah, he'll be out in the outer for at least another few weeks I'd say.
[00:05:27] Speaker D: Yeah. And then the next game was the Panthers belting the Roosters.
What's. What's really left to say about the Panthers? Like seriously, they're just, they're just on another level.
It's. This is eerily similar to 2021, 2022 where they were just so much fitter than everyone else and they were putting on defensive clinics and, and not from memory, not many teams were able to score points against them in the early rounds back then as well.
And Roshni tell us about your Broncos.
[00:06:06] Speaker C: Oh, gosh. So it was Broncos and Storm is basically the Grand Final. At halftime it was 14 nil. Broncos were losing. I was stressing.
And then after halftime it was Jordan Ricky that got two tries and then it was Katoni Staggs who closed the game with an 18 with Reese Walsh doing the conversions.
It was amazing. I was so happy. Very happy week for me.
[00:06:32] Speaker D: Yeah. I've heard through the grapevine that whilst the first try was definitely to get the Broncos back in the game from Ricky, the second one was dedicated to you, so.
[00:06:42] Speaker C: Oh, that's great.
Thank you so much.
[00:06:46] Speaker E: I thought Brendan Pecora.
Oh, yeah, he had a great game when he came on, he just made a big, huge difference.
[00:06:56] Speaker D: Yeah, he was very good.
[00:06:58] Speaker E: Big influence on that game. He was, you know. And young Suavi Fogo for the Storm. He's in great form at the moment. He's tearing up teams.
[00:07:09] Speaker C: He was having some online banter with Re Welsh, wasn't he? With.
[00:07:16] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:07:17] Speaker C: And then Re or Bark. No bite. That was good.
[00:07:20] Speaker E: Oh, that was prompt.
[00:07:22] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:07:22] Speaker E: That was a young prop for the Storm. That's right.
[00:07:26] Speaker C: Yeah.
At least they won after that comment.
[00:07:30] Speaker D: Warriors also three. Three in a row.
Look, the Knights were always going to struggle this game. They're missing essentially their best three players, Ponga, Brown and Sharpie. So, like it was kind of expected.
They held in there for a little bit.
[00:07:47] Speaker E: How about Tanner Boyd at the moment
[00:07:51] Speaker D: be named to main, keep his seven spot. So we'll talk about that later. But yes, he's going really well.
[00:07:58] Speaker E: He's killing it. Like last year you wouldn't have fed him, you know.
[00:08:02] Speaker D: Yeah. Another halfback that the Titans have let go that's now killing it. Number four or five and their forward pack.
[00:08:10] Speaker E: It's just the forward pack is crazy. Like James Fisher Harris, Mitch Barnett, Jackson Ford.
Like Wade Egan at a hooker. You got Lekku Hammer.
Hela. What is it? Hella Simmer. He scores a try every week. And then the unknown Jacob Lebanon virtually like they just got a gun pack.
[00:08:35] Speaker D: So the Panthers Dogs and Warriors are playing a very similar style of football when you break it down. And surprise, surprise, they all come from the Panthers fraternity of coaching with Serraldo and Webster. Mate, what about the Dolphins and the Sharkies? Tell us. Tell us your thoughts about that, Toddy. That was surprising.
[00:09:00] Speaker E: Yeah, it was a bit. Yeah, a bit surprising. But you know, it's the Dolphins that once they click, they click and there was no raining them in, you know. Hammer so was on just another Level.
And I think, yeah, they're just going to get better. They got a few guys back this weekend and a few more in the next few rounds. So.
Yeah, the Sharks, I'm not sure what's going on there. They've, you know, good team on paper.
[00:09:27] Speaker D: Yeah, but they look flat. They look like the, the game against Penrith a week before at Bathurst really took it out of them.
They just didn't. They must have a head. They must have had a heavy load week at training, I reckon, because they came out very flat.
So what about Gerald Sutton?
[00:09:50] Speaker E: Like when he penalized Kafusi? Like that was, that was a penalty. Just on reputation. That was like. That was a great tackle.
That was a great tackle he did on street. Like, you know, Ben Young Katawa went to challenge it and he, he just said I. Too late. I can't hear.
[00:10:14] Speaker D: Yeah, no, I, I, yeah, I agree with your, your thoughts there. Roshi. Did you catch the. Which I think is, was the game of the round, the Rabbits versus the Tigers.
[00:10:25] Speaker C: No, I didn't. I was down doing some content for my channel, unfortunately. But I did hear it was a very good game.
I lost that to my bets though.
[00:10:37] Speaker D: Yeah, that was, that probably was the most entertaining game. Would you agree, Toddy? That was probably the most entertaining.
[00:10:44] Speaker E: It was a very good game. And like they, the Tigers push your rabbits, you know, the more fanciful rabbits all the way. You good crowd. Central Coast Stadium. Like we haven't had a crowd up here like that for years. Like not 19,940, you know, like.
Yeah, that's right. You know, huge. That's a very good crap. But yeah, yeah, I don't know, like Latrell got the eight point, you know, like gave away that, you know, penalty try on the young Senna and you know, I think it was warranted, you know, he probably should have maybe got 10 minutes in the bin too.
[00:11:32] Speaker D: But anyway, yeah, I agree with you. Like by the letter of the law it was a penalty try. But I get what he was trying to do is trying to punch the ball out. It was just light in timing.
It is what it is. And then just to wrap it up, obviously the Eels had a.
I don't know what you'd call that game against the Dragons. It was, it was kind of like the south vs Tigers games, but way less quality.
And the Cowboys and the Titans maybe fighting for an early spoon bowl there. That was, that was, that was something else.
Oh my. Jaden Campbell, he had a great game
[00:12:16] Speaker E: when he came up. You know, he came on He.
[00:12:20] Speaker D: He had a great game.
Yeah.
[00:12:22] Speaker E: Tina on the other hand, I think Tina is thinking, what mate? Why did I sign resign to the Titans? Maybe I should have gone to the Bears, you know. Yeah, like he's badly out of form.
[00:12:35] Speaker D: Yeah. I don't know if he's carrying an injury or an eagle. He's playing less minutes as well. But.
Yeah.
So guys, who did you think was the best team performance on the over the weekend and who was the worst team team performance out of those games?
[00:12:51] Speaker C: Best for me would be Storm and Bronco because Jordan.
So that was good. Worst game that I had watched and I like looked at highlights would be probably Cowboys and Titans just because I don't find them that interesting to watch.
[00:13:10] Speaker D: What about yourself?
[00:13:13] Speaker E: Yeah, the best performance for me would have been the Penrith Panthers. They were just.
Just on fire. Liam Martin back.
They're just Jenk like Jenkins is.
Come on Bears, get onto him. You know, like he was. He's just unreal. What is he? Eight tries? Some three games at the moment. Like he's just killing it, you know. And yeah, worst performance, worst game. I'd probably.
I'll go probably ills Dragons. Tell you the truth, like, you know, the Dragons, you know, Parramatta did get a penalty try in that one too. I thought that was a bit dubious. But you know, like, I don't think Jonah Pette would have scored because he had Clint G in front of him and he had Jaden Sewell right next to him. So, you know, which is a player who grabbed him. So I highly doubt he would have scored anyway. You know, like I thought that was a brave call by the referee. I thought okay.
And then Ryan Couchman, he got four weeks tonight for that hip drop on Jermaine Hop Hopgood and he's out for
[00:14:25] Speaker D: the season, so probably lucky he didn't get more weeks.
Yeah, I thought the.
I thought the best team performance was. Yeah, Panthers just stand out.
I've got a random take on Jenkins which I don't know if people think the same.
I think he's very similar to Lomax, so I think he plays very similar to Lomax, but Lomax had obviously the name and he's got the little. He's got like better like those skill set where you can do a flick pass and pull stuff out where I don't think Jenkins can. But I think Jenkins is actually a harder worker as in he does the 1 percenters better carries and all that. But when you compare them to like their vertical leap and catching bombs and scoring and just being Aware I actually think they're very similar players so you might see Jenkins maybe not make origin because I think Karaz will be in front of him for that vacant wing spot just because he deserves it but man if he was the next in line if, if either or Kaz were to go down like they could do a lot worse so yeah definitely and the worst team performance. Look I got a bit of a soft spot for them but the Titans played really well last week. I thought to to push the Dolphins and they should have won that game but it's clear that they're not used to winning yet because they were making some elementary errors in this game like dropping the ball twice after scoring on kickoffs like Maui Photoaca like what's going there?
[00:16:01] Speaker E: That's just a coach killer isn't it?
[00:16:03] Speaker D: Like yeah it is it is it is a coach killer but look it is what it is. Now we power on to round four guys through the through the weekend and early this week we've heard a couple of other players linked to the mighty Perth Bears.
First one I want to bring up is Luke Lau Lily's brother Kit Lau Lily for those I know don't know he plays in the Ford he's a bit robust he's a bit of a smaller forward Think you're Kurt Mans think you're Chad Randall's Think you're Kurt Morin sort of that sort of mold but obviously island heritage player very strong runner got a good offload on him is just just another case guys of just get it done Adds depth.
[00:16:54] Speaker E: Yeah I think so he's.
He's been plagued by him only played a handful of games over the last few years so in a top level so you know I think yeah probably just a depth signing one you know once he does get confirmed and yeah and the other links Johnny.
[00:17:24] Speaker D: Yeah so Connor Watson was linked a few weeks ago I think this one. This one's going to pick up steam. He's not getting many minutes or as many minutes at the Roosters Reese Robson's back and they Reese's also have and apologies his name eludes me but they've got another hooker I was actually starting hooker before Reese Robson. They weren't starting with Ker Watson.
Connor Watson sort of feels like the odd man out. They've got Savala there they've got both Rodwell's there as well the Rodwell boys.
I would love to see him in a Bears jersey I think he would complement Wishy and Sexton really well where like all three can sort of play, bit of hooker, bit of half, bit of five, eight. So I really hope that the Bears go all in on him.
Thoughts about.
[00:18:20] Speaker E: And Connor can play lock as well. He can play, you know, he's played a bit of lock for the Roosters.
I've known Connor since he was a little kid so, you know, he used to be a fullback in juniors and that and you know, very nippy and yeah, he's bulked up a lot now he's in the forward. So, you know, I think he'd be a great signing and personally I'd love to see Connor, Connor at the Bears, you know, so.
[00:18:44] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, you know he's got that whole as bloke in the bar. Potty says he's got that whole sexy pirate look going for him too.
He could sell the. Yeah, he could sell the. Sell the appeal definitely. W. He's a really well spoken guy and from, from what I hear, he's just a real well liked guy. So.
[00:19:03] Speaker E: Yeah, I think he'll like that. He'll certainly like wa too. He will because he's a, he's a, you know, he used to play for King Cumber in the juniors up here on the Central coast and he's from Evoker so Connor spent most of his days on Evoker beach, you know, so
[00:19:21] Speaker D: he would, he would. Guys. Another player that's started getting rumored is very similar to Connor Watson, very similar to Tyrone Wishart and that's Jamie Humphries who's currently playing half back at South Sydney.
I think the reason it's been reported is I think they've just signed us and they just need movement on their salary cap. So they've sort of stalled negotiations with him and Bears have been linked with him.
Jamie is really good player.
He, he can cover again a number of positions.
Hooker, half five, eight lock, big, built like a brick.
Got pipes on him like it could be a bodybuilder if he wanted to. Coming from someone that used to do that, I really think he could.
Yeah, I hope the Bears go pretty, pretty aggressive at him as well to try and get him over. I think if we can get Connor and Jamie, I think our spine and our depth of our spine is essentially sorted on their versatility. Any thoughts on him, Todd?
[00:20:33] Speaker E: Yeah, he's, you know, he's been a decent player for Rabbit Eyes over last, you know what, last year and you know, I think he's only been on the scene like he came on last year, was it or a year before. So.
Yeah, and he's, he's been consistent. Good goal. He's a goal kicker as well. So, you know, we're not short of him, you know, at the moment with Nick Beaney and Toby Sexton. So we got a few goals.
[00:20:59] Speaker D: Yeah, he's got a lot of Sean Berrigan about him. I look at J. Jamie Humphrey, I'm like, he's got a lot of Sean Began about him. I don't know why, but. Yeah, it just reminds me.
And then the other player, look, it's probably a done deal. Maybe it is a done deal. Maybe we know it's a done deal, but it hasn't been formally announced. So we don't want to say it is a done deal.
And that is the. The big chief himself, Maverick Maguire.
Yeah, just get him over.
I said on the Perth Bears supporters group on Facebook in Game of Thrones, for those that don't know, a Stark must also must always be in Winterfell. And with that said, a Gaia must always play rugby league for a Western Australian NRL team. So get him over. I think he's just going to be one of those awesome guys in the locker room.
It just brings energy. He brings so much fun. And yeah, he. He'll do the work as well. So I'm excited about that.
Guys. I think that's been. That's come out yesterday. There's a competition and I just want to disclaim this that this competition is actually just for Wals so everyone else can play along. But because of the prize and how it's all sort of integrated with Triple M over in Perth, it is a W W local. So that's name of bears. Had a Perth Bears naming contest.
Yeah. Courtesy of Triple M.
What are your names, guys? Give us a couple names that you think that the bear mascot for the mighty Perth Bear should be named.
[00:22:41] Speaker C: Is it a girl or boy bear? That's the question.
[00:22:44] Speaker D: It can be whatever you want. Yeah, it's gender neutral. Doesn't matter.
[00:22:49] Speaker C: What about like, Barry? Barry. I always like Barry the bear could do that.
[00:22:54] Speaker D: Yeah. Or
[00:22:58] Speaker C: I don't know.
It's a gender neutral name for a bear.
Do you guys have any? I've been. You can give in your ideas for sure, Bernard. Okay.
[00:23:18] Speaker E: Yeah, I had.
I wasn't sure at first, like. And then I sort of went with. I was going to say grizzly, but I went with grizzle. But then my sister sort of pointed out to me that she, she recommended to me Billy and. Okay, the great. Yeah, the great St. George halfback Billy Smith. He was actually born in Fremantle WA back in 1940.
So I know he's a Dragons player, but, you know, like Billy, you know, I thought, dude, that's not a bad idea. Billy. I've had. I've seen a few others. I've seen Wes short, you know, just a bit short for Western Australia.
So I thought, oh, that's. That wasn't a bad one either. Then I saw Curtis. Curtis E. Bear. So that was another different one I sort of saw. And then a lot of people are saying, like, the usual suspects, like Yogi and Hub and Spiky and Bundy, but they're all copyright. You can't use any of those anyway. So, yeah, you'll get in trouble for those. The old North Sydney bear was Barney, so you can't use that either. I got to be a new bear for a new, you know, setup. So, yeah, I sort of think Billy or even Wes. Yeah, they're my two.
[00:24:34] Speaker C: I like. I like Wesley. This is cute.
[00:24:36] Speaker E: Yeah, it wasn't too bad.
[00:24:39] Speaker D: I've got two names and I actually. I put a bit of thought into this today.
So the first name is Budai or Bodhi, and that's the Aboriginal word for heart. And it's actually synonymous with the Central Coast Aboriginal people. So basically it's Heart the bear or Buddha the bear or Bodhi the bear.
The other one I've got is ball eye. Bali is the noongar word and the noongar are the local South Western Australian. So. So the Western Australian Aboriginal aborigines in the southern part and the word actually means beware.
So Bali the bear actually means beware the bear. That's what it translate.
[00:25:19] Speaker C: I like those.
[00:25:20] Speaker D: I think there's a little bit of. Yeah, I think Bali, especially the local indigenous traditional owners of the land and Beware. Beware the Bear. I think it's a pretty cool name. So, Katie Roberts, if you're listening, I can't fight, I can't vote because I'm not enough. Yellow and black mighty Western Australian flag. I'm too maroon. Queensland flag. But I'm gonna get someone from WA to put those. Those names forward. I think they're pretty cool.
[00:25:54] Speaker C: Yeah, no, I like those games. I like.
[00:25:57] Speaker D: Yeah, we'll see. We'll see what happens. I'm sure whatever name they. They land on is going to be going to be absolutely a ripper.
[00:26:05] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:26:06] Speaker D: Reports came out on the weekend that the NRL are looking to tinker with the draw.
Potentially snip a week off to allow for the allocation of the 18th to team which is going to be the mighty Perth Bears.
[00:26:23] Speaker C: Yeah.
[00:26:23] Speaker D: Toddy, kick it off. I know you have some thoughts on this.
Let them be known.
[00:26:30] Speaker E: Yeah, I'm very passionate about this. Like they've sort of rumors have come up that the Bears might kick off 20, 27 in Vegas.
I am totally against that.
That's their first year into the competition.
They, they need to kick off in Perth. Yeah, they, you know, there should not even be a discussion. Like it's got to be Perth first and foremost and all the way as far as I'm concerned.
You know, like Vegas. Yeah. Okay. But leave that for the following. There's five other clubs in front of the Bears as far as, you know, like, who have been waiting for Vegas. Vegas, the Dolphins, Parramatta, the Titans, the Tigers, Melbourne Storm. So you got five clubs vying for it already. Like the Bears have just come in next year. So you know, we can't just push in in front of them as far as I'm concerned. And yeah, I think we'll wait till 28 or 29, but they've got, the Bears have got to kick off in Perth. 100%.
[00:27:39] Speaker D: Yeah, I totally, yeah, I, I agree with that. I.
You echo everything you said, Toddy. The Bears need to play their first game in Perth whether in its Optus or hbf.
Doesn't bother me. I know office will get a bigger crowd but HBF will set, HPF will set the time.
[00:28:02] Speaker E: Why not do both, Johnny?
Like what you can do.
No, you can do both. Like, you know.
Yeah, no, not like that, but I'm just saying like two games. Like the format for WA anyway, they've got to look at, you know, like. And my format would be I'd start off with two games in wa, so the first would be at Optus Stadium. Kick it off, get your 60000 or whatever in there, give everyone you know a ticket and then the following week you got another game in WA and you can play at HBF Park.
You'll find a lot of people will come over for that first game and they might even stay for a week and catch the second one. So then you, you got the possibility of having two sold out games.
Okay, that's a format. You know, I hope the NRL really look at this because I hope, you know, it'd be good if they did two weeks in Wall, then came over to New South Wales and played two weeks. Then you go, you know, then you go back to WA for two weeks and you go to Queensland for two weeks. Then you go back to WA for two weeks and you come back to New south Wales for two weeks, etc. Etc. Squares in New Zealand when you're in New South Wales for that second week and just see what happens. But that way the players who have come over from the east coast, it might, you know, then they'll be able to see their friends and family in that two week gap as well, whether it's in New South Wales or Queensland. And it would encourage a lot more players to come to WA and break that family thing because they will see them during the season a lot more with them two week gaps here and there. So that's my opinion. They could probably do both.
Start off at Optus HBF the second week, then come over to New South Wales, play the first game against Manley, whoever at man know alliance or somewhere, you know, and sell out there as well. And then you got three probably sold out games in the first three weeks of a perf Bears.
[00:30:00] Speaker C: So I think that's amazing. That's a really good take on it for sure. I think if they listen to that because they're hyping it up so much, you might as well have it in Perth, right? Not in America. Because you want the crowd at home.
[00:30:15] Speaker E: Not you want the crowd, you want to encourage wall fans and you want to get them on board and you want them to embrace it and you know, like, what better way.
[00:30:24] Speaker C: Exactly. And as a W, I wouldn't go to America to watch the first game. I would rather be at home watch the.
[00:30:31] Speaker E: A lot of people won't because they can't afford it. You know, like, you know, way petrol's going at the moment and everything, like everything's going up. Be on ebike soon.
[00:30:40] Speaker C: So yeah,
[00:30:44] Speaker D: need to find. Need to find the endeavor and sail to America. That's right.
[00:30:48] Speaker E: That's right.
[00:30:49] Speaker D: Look to look Toddy, I agree with you, mate. I. You pretty much said all that needs to be said.
Even down to the way you think the season should be structured as far as the travel and away games and the blocks. I agree with that wholeheartedly. Now, whether the NRL actually execute that, I don't know.
I. I don't. I think some of it will be like that. I don't know if the whole season will be like that and that's just because of just the algorithms and the things that they use these days.
[00:31:23] Speaker E: Yeah, but when have they got the draw right?
Whenever they got the draw right. Anyway, Johnny, like you look at the draw, it's probably the dumbest draw in sport and history, I think. And I say this every year, like how can you have.
You know, what they should do is have everyone play each other once and then mix it up. But some teams are playing each other again after three weeks and they haven't the other 10.
[00:31:48] Speaker D: So I agree with you. Like, this is one example. Like, the Sharks will play teams twice and they will not play the Storm until towards the end of the season. It might almost be like the last game of the season is the only time they play the Storm.
And it's just like for a team that's trying to win a premiership and trying to compete against the best, like, you're telling me that the draw couldn't be a little bit more. Even where you do play everyone once in a sequence and then you repeat and then. And then the following year you just play the teams twice that you only played once the year before. There's enough teams to work out in a chain. You know what I mean? Like that.
And you cannot. You can always play like your local rivals twice every year. You can just lock that in. So South Reese's, Broncos, Dolphins, whatever, would just be two games a year, regardless of what's happening as far as the rotation of the drawers going. But, yeah, I agree with you, mate. I think. I think you pretty much nailed it on the head.
[00:32:49] Speaker E: It's just so frustrating to watch. Like last year, I think. I can't remember. I think it was Canberra hadn't played. I don't know if it's a Bull. I can't remember. I don't know if it was the Bulldogs, but there was someone with like, three rounds to go. I hadn't even played them at all that year, you know, like, it was a Panther.
[00:33:08] Speaker D: Yeah, they didn't play the Panthers till like the very, very end. That's actually happened a few times between those. Yeah, yeah, no, I.
I agree with you, mate.
Just moving on. Bear watch. Did any. Did any Bear sign players stand out over the weekend?
Is there anyone that you thought, yeah, they had a cracker game?
[00:33:33] Speaker E: A lot of them. A lot of them are coming off the bench at the moment.
Like, Josh Karen's coming off the bench. Scotty Sors is coming off the bench. So Steve Talakai is coming off the bench. Like, Tyrone Wishart's coming off the bench. And then you've got, you know, everyone else is on the wing, like Nick Meaney. Oh, Sean Russell's in the centers. He's going pretty well, I think. Sean Russell. But Luke, Luke Lal Lily with the Tigers. He had a strong game, I thought, on the weekend. A lot of meters. He Made and he played very strongly.
[00:34:04] Speaker D: I'm just happy he's getting actual NRL game time consistently because I, I didn't think he was.
And like I applaud Benji because he's obviously losing him at the end of the year. Potentially his brother as well.
But yeah, for Luke to get a couple of games in a row now, it, it really helps his development and it only benefits the Bears, but you're right, the rest are coming off the bench and I guess that's big part of the reason they're moving over to the mighty Perth Bears because they want to be starters. But even then it's not guaranteed they're going to be starters. Once we have a full 30 man roster there could be other guys that you know late.
Potentially 13 to go, definitely 14 players left to sign but you know, guy gets signed to starting to go. But I agree with you. I would like to see more minutes in Sorrow and Talachi and Karen but at the same time it's like them playing less minutes is actually preserving them more.
You know, they're not putting as many miles in their legs so therefore next year they'll be a little bit fresher. That's. So there's always like a silver lining.
You're right about Russell. He's just been pretty immense start the year. Yeah, he's got an error or so in him but whatever. You sort of expect that nowadays from your backline players. As long as he can defend him and he certainly can press with his defense actually and mean, he's just a go.
I love meaning he's just, he just always goes 100% in. So no. Awesome.
Moving on guys. Cub watch. Look, we won't spend too much this week on Cub watch, but it wasn't a good week.
But we're going to get that this year. Toddy made a good point off there. We're going to get that this year until everything starts to come together and all the pathways are streamlined and you get that NRL influence through the North Sydney Bears, through the East Tigers, plus the Roosters in New South Wales that the Bears played and the jets in Queensland at the Tigers play. They're, they're pretty good teams because for those that don't know, Roosters are essentially Central coast and the jets in the women.
[00:36:16] Speaker E: Yeah, and the women.
[00:36:21] Speaker D: Yeah, they still get a lot of Central Coast Juniors through, through the lads as well, you know.
So yeah, look, it wasn't, it wasn't pretty. Even, even the Queensland cup team, the Tigers, it wasn't pretty. But onwards and upwards, baby. Onwards and upwards. You need. You need something losses and to make yourself better.
So, yeah. Guys, anything further to add on that, Toddy?
[00:36:51] Speaker E: No, not really.
Yeah, they can only improve. Like they had some significant losses on the weekend and yeah, they can just. I'll lick their wounds and get back into it.
Yeah, I'll be fine.
[00:37:09] Speaker D: So, Bear Pit trivia, I was thinking this week, I was like, well, we definitely need more WA flavor.
And, you know, I'll preface by saying, like, I'm not an expert on the NRL WA by any means, all the teams, but I thought we can either give a top four prediction of what we think the Grand Final is going to be. Why out.
It's. It's literally not for like eight months. Not eight months, but literally not for like five months, six months.
So, Toddy, who do you reckon the top two teams will be in the nrlwa? Who. Who will be the two top Aussie West Aussie teams?
[00:37:46] Speaker E: Well, Roni can tell us about this. She went up to training and watched the Willagy Bears on the weekend and.
Yeah, how'd that go, Rosny?
[00:37:56] Speaker C: So I watched the trading between the Willigi Bears and the Bulldogs.
I think the Bulldogs, though, looked stronger than the Willy Joubears.
They were still getting their form and everything. I know they were trying out a few more people as well, but yeah, both teams look strong. I was more doing just content. So I wasn't really watching the game that much, but from what I heard and saw, they were doing really well.
They had a few halftime chats that I popped my ear in and heard they're definitely strong. Their coaches are very, very.
They know what they're talking about.
Yeah. So maybe the. The Bulldogs, I think. Yeah, that's my. That's my prediction.
[00:38:42] Speaker E: Bulldogs new team.
Yeah, yeah, they're new kids in the. On the block issue. Like my. I'd say my. If you had to check four teams, I'd say North Beach Sea Eagles, they're up there every single year virtually.
Fremantle Roosters, they're another one. Who's up there virtually every single year.
South Perth Lions, they're another consistent side. They in the Grand Final last year and got beat by and you know, by Willy and. Yeah, and Willy were defending Premiers. I see. Yeah, I see those four as the main, you know, the main four in that competition. The Fielder go and play competition.
[00:39:23] Speaker C: So, yeah, I talked to boys who were in the winning Willagy Bears competition.
They seem pretty confident that they'll do well this year. So who knows?
[00:39:34] Speaker E: They're very Strong.
[00:39:37] Speaker D: Yeah, I agree with you guys. I think will. The Jeep Bears will be up there. I mean, they came from nowhere literally to come back and win the.
Win it all.
[00:39:50] Speaker E: Well, they'd been out.
[00:39:53] Speaker D: Yeah. Geez, I hope that's like a no, like an omen. Yeah, yeah.
And look, I don't know if they're going to be up there or not, but I would love to see the Joondaloop Giants in the grand. Same here as well.
[00:40:07] Speaker E: I've got a soft spot for them. I don't know why.
[00:40:10] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah. I don't know what it is about him. I don't know if it's.
Yeah, I've known a few people over the years. Just random people that talk about them,
[00:40:23] Speaker E: you know, I got a few.
[00:40:25] Speaker D: Yeah. So, yeah, I'd love to see a grand final between Joondaloop and.
And Willa G. Bears.
[00:40:31] Speaker E: And they got a prop.
Is it. They got a prop. He's a bit old, but I'm like, Joel Irvine, his name is. And he caught my year. My eyes. You know, like a few years ago he's playing in the combined affiliated stamp States Championship and he really caught my eye. I thought, oh, is this black? And then I saw his surname or Irvine. So I took even more notice because of the great Ken Irvine. He played for North Sydney Bears. So. Yeah. So then I sort of thought, oh, you know, I might follow these guys a little bit, you know, a bit more closely. You know, old Junle up. And then, you know, two seasons later, Willie was back at the competition to bear. So anyway.
[00:41:12] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, no, it's. Yeah. I don't know. I just think it'd be cool just to see him do.
[00:41:19] Speaker E: You know, Rosy should like Jundal up as well because the Broncos colors. Rosy? What are you talking about?
[00:41:24] Speaker C: Oh, well, what can I say?
Bears have a little bit of Broncos in them. The red.
Not as much as Jindalup though. But maybe I'll take more notice next time.
[00:41:37] Speaker E: You'll have to go up there.
[00:41:39] Speaker C: Yeah, I'll have to, won't I?
Let's talk about teamless. Teamless were given out today.
[00:41:47] Speaker D: Yeah. Yep.
Yeah, that's. Yeah, that's the big. The big out is no pain hearts. So for the Broncos, Xavier Willison starts.
For those that are playing NRL fantasy that's also very, very relevant. Probably going to kill a lot of teams this week.
Weekend.
Another big out is Jerome Lui. He's obviously out for four so weeks somehow do we got named for the Tigers? Oh, I swear his hammy was gone. I Was like, yeah, this guy's also out for three to four weeks. I even made a short on. On the Bears Facts podcast. Fantasy related was like, yeah, trade him out. He's gone. But he's been named.
But I expect to see, I don't expect to see him to start. I expect to see Latu Fein, who come in with Jock Madden. And playing the halves. A big in is Luke Metcalfe.
He's playing, he's playing six. And this goes back to Tanner Boyd, who retains his seven spot. And we had a, we had a question before or a statement that came through from one of our listeners. Eshkio said, Tanner Boyd's off contract at the end of the season. Throw the bag at him, mate.
Yeah, you've got my endorsement, especially at the moment.
[00:43:10] Speaker E: Yeah.
[00:43:11] Speaker D: But let's just see how it goes for the full season.
[00:43:14] Speaker E: Because last year, like when he. Last year when Metcalfe got injured and he came with a forefront, he was horrible.
Like I thought, my God. And now, you know, it's amazing what an offseason does and.
[00:43:28] Speaker D: Yeah, that's true, that's true.
Also another one, Fletcher Sharpie's back for the night. They really needed him back.
One of the three player, one of the big three names out, so he'll make a world of a difference.
That caught my eye.
The, the Eels have obviously lost Hopgood, so geez, that's, that's hard. They. They put in Dylan Walker, throw him into the starting. But he was doing so well coming off the bench. I thought he was giving him like spark. So I don't know about him for 80 minutes, especially against the Penny.
Yeah, outside of that, I think most other teams are pretty, pretty stable at the moment. Just.
Oh, actually Britain Nicker is out. Yeah, he's. He must have got, must have got charged for indiscretion because he, he. Yeah, I didn't see that one coming. But you know, the Sharks just, they've got Billy Burns there who we just missed out on. It would have been good to get. So, so, so the games this weekend, Toddy, what are they? And let us know your standout games.
[00:44:46] Speaker E: Okay, I'll start with the home team first. So got the return to Brookvale of dce. So you got Manly against the Roosters.
So. Yeah, Dale Terry Evans, he's 37 years of age.
He was at the seagulls, what for 14 seasons.
You know, played 352 games for the Sea Eagles and scored 833 points. Like what reception. You think he'll get this weekend. This Thursday. Thursday night, isn't it? So. Yeah, this Thursday night.
[00:45:23] Speaker D: Man, this game is so hard to like. I know we'll get to our tippings after, but the Roosters need to win and need to show something manly. Need to win and need to show something.
It's just like this game.
Yeah, you're right.
What, what's after that, mate? What's. What's next?
[00:45:44] Speaker E: The other games we got is Warriors, Tigers, the new halves pairing of Tanner Boyd and Luke Metcalf. So yeah, yeah, I expect Luke Metcalf would guide him around the park and Tanner boy to just keep doing what he's doing at the moment. So. So that's how I think it'll go.
[00:46:03] Speaker D: Yeah.
[00:46:04] Speaker E: And then you've got the Queensland Clash, Broncos and the Dolphins. Battle of Brisbane.
[00:46:14] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah.
[00:46:16] Speaker E: You got Francis Mo back for the Dolphins. So good strong.
The other Garriots and the other games you got Bulldogs nights.
Yeah, Panthers.
Yeah, that's right.
[00:46:37] Speaker D: And.
[00:46:37] Speaker E: And the Eels usually, you know, give them a go and. Cause they get upsets in this game, so.
[00:46:43] Speaker D: No, they get up during the season.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
[00:46:48] Speaker E: So it'll be interesting. Mitch Moses against night Nathan Cleary. So you got Matt Clash and. Yeah, then you got Cowboys, Storm Raiders, Sharks, Titans and Dragons on a Sunday night again.
[00:47:05] Speaker D: Jeez, look, that Sunday night slot, for those that don't know, like that's likely going to be more often than not the Perth Bears slot. Because see 6:15 on or 6, 6 o' clock on a Sunday night. East coast would be 4 o'. Clock. So that's actually the 4 o' clock game, but local, so.
But yeah, they've put on some bloody stinkers, eh?
Paul Young, 1170.
Just a quick question says, what is a rock infringement? Well, rock infringement can be a multiple things, could be hand on the ball, could be a flop, could be too slow coming off, peeling off, could be not square on the marker.
[00:47:51] Speaker E: Someone on the ground in the way.
[00:47:53] Speaker D: Yeah, someone in the ground on the way. There's probably like. What do you reckon, Toddy? At least a dozen things.
[00:47:59] Speaker E: Yeah, you got a lot, you know, that's why sometimes you scratch your heads with these six agains. Like you're thinking, you know, I used to say this to rugby union. What's that penalty for? Now I'm saying it rugby league, you know.
[00:48:11] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah.
And then in. In the Cubs, the reserve. So the North Sydney Bears are playing the Dragons.
Is this one at North Sydney Oval, Todd, or. Not yet.
Might be the first game there, eh?
[00:48:30] Speaker E: I think it is, yeah.
I haven't have to admit, I haven't really. I'll have a look.
[00:48:34] Speaker D: Yeah, yeah, I'm not quite sure but it. No, it's away. It's away. It's that Jerry Gong.
There you go.
That's randomized.
And.
And the Tigers are playing the Devils at home at Total Work where listener and. And mighty Bear supporter and also Tiger supporter Mitch Noonan.
He sometimes gets get togethers for the Queensland based um, Bear supporters. I'm not sure if he's doing one this weekend but if he does, um, yeah, get in contact with him through the socials. You'll see his posts on, on and if you can make it out to this game, it'll be, it'll be a good game. The Devils are always up for a challenge and Dolphins affiliated team. So it'll be a good game with
[00:49:23] Speaker E: North Sydney and the Dragons. The Dragons are still, they're undefeated at the moment, so I know it's only early in the season but they're showing good form. But with that suspension, the Ryan Couchman and whatever that, you know, they might lose a few players to go up.
[00:49:37] Speaker D: So yeah, yeah, that'll be a tough game. That'll be a tough game, guys. The bare necessity. So it's funny Paul asked that question about rock infringement.
Look here today I was going to talk about missed tackles and how not every missed tackle is the same and the importance of a good scramble defense and the defensive structures of trusting your inside man, your inside shoulder man to pick up the slack or to move with you. So basically sometimes you see these stats and it's like, oh, a team missed 50 tackles, which is a lot or more often not. It's around 20 to 30. Would you agree, Toddy? It's around 20 to 30. More often than not miss tackles. Thing is, not all missed tackles are the same. A lot of missed tackles, can be like inside the opposition's half, usually inside their 20. So, so in the red zone, what separates the really good teams and the not so good defensive teams is how good their scramble is. So if they miss a tackle, which a lot of the time the good teams, they, they miss a tackle. But it's not because of the contact, the contact contact, it's. It's mainly because that that attacking player just shimmied or did something good and, and just, you know, broke through.
But the really good teams like the Panthers can have like some games, 44 plus missed tackles, but they're letting in hardly any points which tells me that they've got really good scramble. They're fit.
So what that means is, say, for example, your second row misses a tackle or your five, eight misses a tackle.
Then the. The forwards, the mids that are coming in from the inside and the outside man, the center, they're just really good at scrambling to close those gaps. And the guy that missed the tackle is fit enough to sort of reset himself, get back, make the tackle again, or keep going and reset the line. So the defensive structure is always there, the defensive line's always there.
So next time you're watching footy, a good team to watch is obviously the Panthers. Keep a close eye, especially if you've got a widescreen tv. Keep a close eye on how they defend. I know a lot of people just like, attack, attack, but keep a close eye on how they defend and how all the players are actually moving and how they're moving and how they're picking up the slack if someone misses a tackle. Another. Another good team to watch is also the Dogs as well, and this year the Warriors. So what are your thoughts there, Todd? You got. You got many thoughts on that and. Or.
[00:52:16] Speaker E: Yeah, I totally agree.
Yeah, I totally agree. Also, I think another good one to watch is probably Melbourne Storm, how they peel off for players. Like, you know, they're pretty good at peeling off. They are.
I was. I had a question for you, Johnny. Like, why do you think we're seeing so many hip drops?
Like, years ago, we never saw them, you know, like, what's bringing hip drops into the game?
[00:52:43] Speaker D: I just think it's a combination of sports science and how strong the athlete is. Because now the athlete, a long time ago, a big man would hit another big man or even a smaller man, and once you hit that contact that you would stop the runner or the runner would. Would break through to the point where you wouldn't be hanging off him or you'd be hanging off a looser jersey or whatever. Nowadays the jerseys are so tight and everyone's so strong that when you break through through, the attack is so strong that he keeps running. But the defender is equally as strong, especially in their upper body, that they keep holding. And what happens then is something's got to give. Physics. Physics come into play and something's got to give and the weight's got to get transferred some. Some way. And what we're finding is, is the attack, especially if they're lower, they lose their leg. They lose their leg. Sorry, the defender loses their legs while they're holding on and they end up doing a swinging motion because the attack is still running. And still has momentum and still have force.
So it's a combination. The game's quicker, which means the game's quicker, plays a fit up players are stronger, which means a lot of players when they hit the first contact there's a good chance that they're going to break through the tackle or at least poke their front through. If that happens then you've got to try and stop them by their legs because they've punch through the front, they can get an offload and the defenders are equally just as strong. And I just think it's just momentum.
Tackling. Tackling techniques also comes into it. The old days of when we were playing toddy where you just, you bend down, you put your front foot. Yeah. You put your front foot, your back foot behind your front foot. You, you sort of make yourself like a spear. You get down, you get low and then you hit them right under, under the sternum.
That sort of technique sort of going away because head injuries, hi. Is getting ahead in the wrong spot. Blokes are getting way too low because players are getting taller and they're bigger. So they were getting hit in their hips and knocking themselves out. So they don't really.
I don't know in junior footy, but it's not a technique that we, we see much anymore. I call it, I call it the Trevor Gillmeister technique. But it was before. This time it's just a perfect typing technique,
[00:54:56] Speaker E: Johnny. Like that's a thing of a past now because they're trying to cover the offload.
So yeah, like you don't see around the legs hardly. Like, you know, usually you see two players holding a player up and then someone will come in and you know, take their legs out from under them a lot of the time. So.
[00:55:17] Speaker D: Yeah, 100 agree, mate, 100 agree it's all about wrapping the ball up and also stopping momentum.
But yeah, that's, that's what I think. That's my theory about the hip drops. Yeah, it's just stronger athletes, faster athletes on both sides of defense and attack and just a quicker game, quicker power game. And it's just, it's just physics. It's just momentum. Combine that with tackling techniques and at some point someone's going to grab you from a certain angle. But because you're going, the attack is going forward or you're going forward, you're going to make them swing around. If they lose their legs, the defender loses their legs. It's. You know what I mean? So that's a great topic that you brought up there, mate.
Didn't think I'd get so into it, but, yeah, I love that sort of stuff.
Guys, moving on, last segment, the. The bear attraction. So, as we said last week, Mark Eyes coming on in a few weeks.
So excited to get him on, have a chat. And then later in the year, we. We've got some other special guests we're trying to tee up and also some returning guests we're trying to tee up. So keep an eye out on the barefax social media platforms. We'll make announcements and also magic rounds coming up. Little Birdie told me Roshni's going to be in Brisbane for that, so we're gonna try and do some content. Um, she'll have the pleasure of meeting my partner, Cass and a couple mates. Um, yeah, I'll run a Mark and Charlotte. Good time around Brisbane during magic round where magic truly does happen.
Double header happening in Perth April 11.
If you haven't bought your tickets, please do.
All good ticket selling.
Yeah, all. All good ticket selling.
Web pages, selling that. Um, also on the socials, um, NRL wa, Perth, Perth Bears.
Are you going. You going to that one, Rosny?
[00:57:18] Speaker C: Yes, I am.
[00:57:18] Speaker D: That double header. Yeah. So if you see Rosney there, say g' day to her. If you see our producer Paul there, definitely say g' day to him because he does a lot of magic behind the scenes.
Then there's also a game where I think tickets have been released for later in the year, which is in August, guys.
[00:57:38] Speaker E: HBF Park.
[00:57:40] Speaker D: Yeah, so that's.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. So that is the last NRL game before the Perth Bears.
Yeah, that's the last game before the Perth Bears play the next game after that, the penultimate game, the ultimate.
So definitely get to the bear pit. If you can't make a double header, try and make it to this game in August. Toddy will be there in wa, so if you see him in Roshni and Paul, nearly the whole around.
[00:58:10] Speaker E: Yeah,
[00:58:15] Speaker D: Diesel. Diesel's too expensive here in. In Queensland. I'm gonna have to hop. Hop on an emu and ride one across the country. I think we get out there.
Also, Little birdie told us that merchandise is coming in a few weeks potentially for the double header. That's official merchandise.
We're working on barefax merchandise as well. So keep your eyes out on all our social media platforms.
And that's your Facebook, that's your Instagram, Instagram, YouTube, even LinkedIn.

That's Episodes with John Saxon, CEO of NRLWA, Bears legends Don McKinnon, Mark Graham, Greg Florimo, Reds legend Matt Fuller and Bears board member and one of the founders actually of the game gear headgear that Jake Travoyage is wearing. Peter Cummins.
Awesome chats. We've had those guys.
Outside of that, obviously, the cheerleading. Take us off, Roger.
[01:00:24] Speaker C: Thank you. So trials are still open. I thankfully got a lot of girls interested. I do need some boys interested as well.
So Trials again are the 13th, 15th April, week one where we'll be just building a team, doing just very basic training choreography. Week two is the 20th and 22nd of April where we'll be building an actual performance.
Week three, 27th, 29th of April will be final teams, but I've also extended it just in case you can't make it to any of those trainings, to the first official day of the Rubies, March 25.
So if you are interested in dance know anybody interested, please let me know.
Talking about sponsors for the Rubies as well, I would love to have some sponsors help us out as well with the cheer team and we also have merch coming soon.
We do have our uniforms which we will show in a little bit and yeah, it's very exciting. Everything's coming together. We just need a few more people so we can hit the road with all of you.
[01:01:31] Speaker D: Awesome.
That's fantastic. Please hop on that. Reach out to Rojni. The more the merrier, the more people, the grander it will be and it's going to be an awesome, awesome experience for sure. And before we get to our tips and our footy tips, which I'm keen To hear how everyone's gonna go this weekend. Toddy, have you been keeping up with your fantasy footy?
Did you. How did you go?
[01:01:56] Speaker E: I. I haven't touched on it. I have to admit I'm letting the team down. I'm sorry.
[01:02:03] Speaker D: It's all good, mate. This weekend I got.
Last weekend I got 967 points which I won. A couple of groups that I'm in, I made some savvy trades so I'll be popping my ugly mug on a couple of shorts and the, and the NRL fantasy podcast that will drop hopefully on Wednesdays, but I'll also be cupping a couple shorts. I'll be bringing in a couple people that so called experts have been playing for a long time. V Fantasy. They know far more than I do. Hopefully they can teach Paul and I a few things so we can start beating those guys.
You know, the more reps we get in. But Toddy, footy tips. Let's go footy tips.
[01:02:44] Speaker E: Before we get on the footy tips. Did people get a little surprise in the mail this week?
[01:02:51] Speaker C: Looking snazzy.
[01:02:52] Speaker E: Hold on, I'm trying to.
[01:02:56] Speaker C: There we go.
Great.
[01:03:00] Speaker E: There we go.
[01:03:01] Speaker D: I saw you at a hotel. I would assume Your name is Mr. Perth Bears.
That's your name badge.
[01:03:07] Speaker E: Have you got yours yet, Johnny?
[01:03:10] Speaker D: Yeah, I got mine today.
A little bit slow out here in Queensland. Like I said, we've got.
[01:03:15] Speaker E: No, it doesn't matter.
[01:03:17] Speaker D: Oh, I must have been by carrier pigeon, you know mate. So no, I got mine today. I'm stoked.
[01:03:23] Speaker E: He looked over his other left shoulder.
[01:03:26] Speaker D: Yeah, as soon as I took it out of the, the, the little letter, my little 18 month old saw her and she was like oink
[01:03:36] Speaker E: blue. You know, it stopped the lines and you know a lot of people had to register that night or the next day. So you know, it was good. Yeah, it's good to finally see it in person. So yeah. Okay, the tips.
Okay. As we touched on earlier, you got the Brookvale D.C. back at Brookvale. So manly. Roosters. Who's you got guys?
[01:04:01] Speaker C: I've got roosters for this one.
[01:04:07] Speaker D: I don't know, I want to say I'm gonna go roosters, but I don't know. Yeah, I'll say roosters but yeah, I'll go roosters.
[01:04:17] Speaker E: Okay, maybe D.C. he might know that ground. He should know it like the back of his hand. So you'll get a few 40, 20s and maybe, maybe. Yeah, I'm just interested to see how the crowd trading but anyway, next game, Warriors Tigers.
[01:04:35] Speaker C: I'm Going warriors with this one.
[01:04:40] Speaker D: Yeah, warriors in New Zealand's potentially time
[01:04:44] Speaker E: you got Jerome out, Dewey out, and, you know, they got a few players out, so, yeah, definitely the Warriors. Metcalf's back, so it'll be interesting to see how that halves combination goes.
So, okay, next game, battle of Brisbane Broncos, Dolphins. No, Pain has.
[01:05:02] Speaker C: Oh, I'm still going Broncos.
[01:05:08] Speaker D: I think that Fins. But the Finns have only won one out of their six games against the Broncos, although they're all being relatively close, except the one that the Finns won, which was like a 40s +score score line. But every other game's been like 10 points or less, so I think Finns might get them. They're due for a win, so. Over the Broncos.
[01:05:28] Speaker E: Yeah, I'm going the Dolphins as well. I got Francis Marlowe back, so he'll add a bit more punch to him. I thought Kurt Donahue was going to be back this week, but he hasn't been named, so he must still must be out for an extra week. So. But their backline looks, you know, like, looks really on it should be a great game, even with Pain Hass out
[01:05:51] Speaker C: and it'll be a tough game, so we'll see how he goes.
[01:05:56] Speaker E: Yeah, next game, Bulldogs nights.
[01:06:02] Speaker C: I'm going Bulldogs.
[01:06:05] Speaker D: Same dogs.
[01:06:07] Speaker E: Yeah, doggies, bro. I'll go with doggies.
So, okay, next game, Panthers, Eels. Battle of the West.
[01:06:15] Speaker C: Panthers for sure.
[01:06:18] Speaker D: Yeah, Panthers.
[01:06:20] Speaker E: Yeah, yeah, I'll get Panthers, but I think it'll be closer than a lot of people think. We've hopped good, but we've hopped good out being out injured maybe, you know, they've got to, you know, they've got to get used to having not having him. He's one of their main defensive people, so, you know, so be interesting. Okay, Cowboys, Storm.
[01:06:44] Speaker C: I'm going Storm with this one just because, I don't know, they just seem stronger than the Cowboys at the moment.
[01:06:51] Speaker D: Man, you don't want to play Storm after that second half. Last year with. Sorry. Last week with a. They let the Broncos back and then lost that game. I, I, I just. You don't want to play Storm the next week. Yeah, Storm.
[01:07:05] Speaker E: Yeah. I agree with you, Johnny. I, you know, Craig Bellamy, he would have got him doing overs this week, I reckon.
So, yeah, I'm tipping the Storm.
Okay. This will be a good game, actually. Next one, Raiders versus Sharks.
[01:07:21] Speaker C: I'm gonna say Raiders with this one, even though they haven't been doing that well. I'm still gonna go Raiders.
[01:07:29] Speaker D: This is probably the hardest to tip because it's in Canberra. But the Raiders have played some physical games this year already. Like they've actually all their games have been real physical and they've been in the rain so I think that's going to take a little bit out of them. Plus they had the golden point game. Game one.
I'm going to say Raiders but it would not surprise me if the Sharks bounce back and make a statement in this game and do it well.
Good Ford. Good Ford Pack Battle day. Even with Nicora out it's a good.
[01:07:59] Speaker E: Yeah, I'm going the old Viking clap again this week so yeah, I'll go the Raiders, I'm. I've been watching their hookers like Tom Starling, Jaden Braylee and Owen Patty and Owen Patty's been on the outer the last few weeks so here's another hooker that's up for grabs. So Morgan Smithies is another one who is, you know, on the bench as well around 19 I think 7, 18, 19 so be interesting if he gets a go as well. And the final game, another bottom of a ladder one. Titans, Dragons.
[01:08:38] Speaker C: I'm just going Dragons this one. I'm like whoever really.
[01:08:43] Speaker D: Oh man, this is like poo sling in central this one.
I think the Titans are going to win just because they're at home actually they're properly at home. They haven't been at Sea Bus because Seabus has been hosting the Women's Asian cup championships some games there. So they haven't actually haven't played a home game yet. So yeah, I think the Titans are finally going to get up.
[01:09:09] Speaker E: Yep, I'm going Titans. I saw enough from Jaden Campbell last weekend, you know now, you know, now he's back in I think. Yeah. AJ Brimson, you know, Tina's got to find some form but I think they've got enough, you know, Ryan Couchin's been suspended for four games so I think they've got enough firepower to get over the Dragons.
Yeah, probably only the Dragons but.
But yeah, I'll go, I'll go over Titans at the moment. So. So. And the rabidos have the buy. So yeah, that wraps up the weekend round.
[01:09:45] Speaker C: Yeah, it's going to be a good.
[01:09:51] Speaker D: So yeah, yeah guys, so yeah, that's it.
